The shrug is finally finished!

You may recall that I started knitting a cardigan/shrug... oh I don't know, a gazillion years ago? Well, amazingly, I have finally finished it.

Thankfully, I'm really happy with how it turned out (because you're never sure until you get it off the circular needles). I love the ruffley collar. And the stripes!

This was made from angora bunny wool that I bought in Scotland. It is so soft. Our cat loves to curl up on it (no Snorky! that's not what it's for!).

In other news, the egg cozies that I made for the ABCD meet-up were such a hit that I have decided to make some for the Stitchybritt store. They make great Easter gifts and are available right now... but only until Easter! After 24 April they will be gone!

New to the Stitchybritt store...

New to the Stitchybritt store are these cute Lion Amulets, made to bring courage to those who can be a little shy. Maybe you know someone who needs a helping hand to speak up?

Love Amulets

My latest stitching project is making amulets. I'm not sure why exactly the idea popped into my head, other than that I like pretty hangy things, and it's always a bit more special when someone has given you one of those pretty hangy things that is supposed to bring you luck, love, fortune, or whatever it is that you need.

So, getting into the Valentinesy mood, I decided to start with some love amulets in the shape of sweet acorns. According to The Wicca Spellbook by Gerina Dunwich (Citadel Press, 1998), an acorn carried in your purse, pocket or charm bag will help attract the opposite sex to you (even more so if you annoint it with musk oil!).

These are going to go up in my Etsy shop this week.

Do you know someone who needs a little bit of love? Maybe they would like one of these!

Finally

I've been meaning to get my etsy shop set up for too long - about a year I think! So I am pleased to announce that it is now here, and live: www.stitchybritt.etsy.com.

So why has it taken me so long? Certainly not for lack of creative interest, or things I've made. I'm always making! Always! It's just that I seem to be interested in too many things in life, which means I'm constantly off on some crazy adventure. When my friends ask me what I've been up to they can expect a response along the lines of "crocheting a strawberry", "going to circus classes" or "going to see Japanese Taiko drumming". Other aspects of life, such as uni, work, visiting Germany, ok ok, drinking, have also been contributing factors. But the point is that the shop is now up and running! Let's all have a beer to celebrate!
