Jett bought this book and, despite it being in Japanese, hoped that I would be able to figure it out because I can crochet. So, being a wonderfully lazy Good Friday, I thought I would give it a go. I must say, I would have had no hope if it wasn't for the help of Leanne at my work, whose Japanese is pretty hot, and this website.
Right, so, I have no idea what I'm doing.
This kinda looks like doggie parts. Now it's just like putting together a puzzle, surely.
Stitch it together, add some eyes and a nose and...
Voile! One Ami Ami Dog!
What kind of yarn did you use? I have the book too.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, it was just some 5 ply that sitting around in my stash. I picked some colours that would be a bit doggy - and it worked!
ReplyDeleteoh! it's so adorable. Is it hard to learn crochet skill?
ReplyDeleteI find crochet pretty easy, easier than knitting, especially to create shapes. I recently showed some friends how to crochet and although they found it a bit weird at first they were crocheting complex shapes in no time. I'm sure you can find some online tutorials to help.
ReplyDeleteThis book is now translated into English for anyone who is interested in it. I just picked it up today at Barns and Nobel.
ReplyDeleteIt is still titled Ami Ami Dogs.
I am going to make myself learn to crochet with this. I know how to knit but its so much harder to make cute things with knitting.
i'm trying to find out if all the dogs in the Japanese version are also in the English version. If you can compare the two and let us know please do.. I have the English version and plan on making the all !! There is also a AmiAmiDogs2 book in English scheduled to come out in August.. plan to pre-order this one...
ReplyDeleteHi there
ReplyDeleteI actually don't own either book (the English or the Japanese version) so I'm afraid I can't help there. Let us know how you go!
